Fats celebrated his 87th birthday quietly at his home in New Orleans on February 26th, with a white birthday cake with black music notes surrounding it. Party attended by some long-time friends and band members.

Unfortunately it's true! His death deserves a thread of it's own:

Fats Domino on the austrian TV show "Spotlight". I have a Bill Haley and his comets-concert from the same TV show on DVD, but didn't know Fats also appeared on one of the episodes.

That's the next time Bear Family re-does a box. They already put out the 8 CD Fats Domino set "Out of New Orleans", which I own. I also have a 3 CD set called "The Paramount Years", so I'm not sure if I really need this new item. On the other hand: The latest boxes Bear Family did on Chuck and Jerry Lee are probably the finest rock'n'roll releases ever made.

They have a tendency to concentrate too much on the old stuff, but the quality of their box sets is usually excellent.

They were also working on a Bo Diddley box set, but Universal Music would not give them the rights to his songs, so the project has been scrapped.

A box set of the complete Fats stuff would have been great - all studio recordings including "Sleeping on the job", the christmas album and "Alive and kickin'" plus the official live albums.

That's true, Dirk, plus unreleased recordings from later days.
