The Old Grey Whistle Test –one night only Friday 24/2/18

Bob Harris talking to producer Mike Appleton, presenter Richard Williams & Danny Baker. These short interviews mainly concerned Jerry Lee. Williams complained/stated that “someone like Jerry Lee Lewis, actually put me in fear of my life” Whispering Bob interceded “I think he did that to most people actually” Bob then told a ‘great story’ concerning Lewis and a guitarist from Hell.
Mike Appleton remembered Lewis’s OGWT session by recalling Jerry Lee walking past him, to join the band/get to the piano, handing Appleton his glass of wine Lewis instructed “Hold this BOY”. When Lewis did his numbers he simply got up and walked past Appleton collecting his wine saying nothing and left.
I seem to recall Mike Appleton stating that JLL was the most impressive Old Grey Whistle Test artist

He was certainly at his most arrogant best / worst at this time, depending on your point of view!

I saw it once on facebook, or a link via facebook from our "friend" Tex Johan...

I saw it several times on my VHS and DVD players, but I no longer have it. I'm more fussy about what I keep these days, concentrating on professionally filmed musical performances instead of interviews, documentaries and amateur footage.
