The only UK performance of 'End Of The Road', unless he performed it prior to 1977.

I've some great memories of the old conventions at the Kings Hotel in the early 90s. In no particular order - Charles White's infectious laughter, singing around the piano with Steven Eckles 'til 4 in the morning, catching up with Kenny, many drunken sessions with Jay Halsey, and blaring out GBF outside Chesney Hawks' bedroom at 2am!!!!!!. Sad to say, but they were more memorable than Jerry's performance there in '93.

I strongly disagree there (& anyway he did 3 performances in '93, not just one!). The conventions were fun too though, as was the original 1987 jam session that started it all by Linda, Moetta, Phoebe & The Memphis Beats on 16th April 1987.

Me too, it was a great weekend but also thanks to the 3 different shows, wouldn't have missed it.

He wasn't quite as lean, mean & energetic as even 2 or 3 years earlier, but these were fascinating 1-hour shows with lots of musical surprises.

Goode / You Win Again / Drinkin’ Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee / Cold Cold Heart / Me & Bobby McGee / Coming Back For More / Walk A Mile In My Shoes / Mexicali Rose / Boogie Woogie Country Man / Georgia On My Mind / WLS / Good Golly Miss Molly / GBF / Tutti Frutti – Long Tall Sally (Medley)

13.3.93: King’s Hotel, Newport, Wales.
Roll Over Beethoven / Fraulein / C.C. Rider / Brown Eyed Handsome Man / Mean Woman Blues / Release Me / Johnny B. Goode / Over The Rainbow / Mona Lisa / Mexicali Rose / Boogie Woogie Country Man / Lewis Boogie / End Of The Road / WLS / Chantilly Lace / GBF / High Heel Sneakers

Peter, you misunderstand. I never said they were poor performances or that I didn't enjoy them, more that the great memories and friendships I developed at Newport outweighed my memories of the shows. And so they should - the road trip down to south Wales from Yorkshire on the Friday morning blaring out JLL as we went, meeting up with everyone in the bar, making new friends over the course of the weekend, the afternoon/evening entertainment - we still have a chuckle to this day at some of the goings on. And if it wasn't for the conventions, I probably wouldn't have formed a great friendship with Jay and a subsequent relationship with Frankie and her family.

Ironically having Jerry there more or less killed off the conventions, as everyone knew that there'd be no topping that.

Came across this photo and had no idea where and when it was taken - but wait, is that PC in the background? So, must have been Newport in either '91 or '92?!!
