Someone who spent two periods in the band: late 1985 - late 1986, and mid 1990 - early 1992. Sorry to hear he died.

Some words by Kara, his daughter:
"It is with a heavy heart I tell you that he went to be with Jesus yesterday afternoon.
At this time we are only having a graveside service. We may have a "Gowing Away" party but nothing planned yet for that.
The Graveside service information is as follows, this is funeral arrangements for Butch Baker:
Danny Baker will meet with anyone who wishes to attend grave/ side services at Shackalford funeral home, 201 south main st. In Middleton, Tn. At 11:30 leaving from there at 12:15 for Rodgers Springs Church of Christ which is 335 old Rodgers Springs rd. in Middleton, th. services at 1:00 pm. Closed casket serv. it's about 60 miles from Mphs.
Note from Danny Baker: "if you think this is short notice, think about the family".
R.I.P. Butch Baker, he will truely missed.
As Butch Baker would say, God Bless."

I remember some interesting chats with Butch via FB.
A while ago for example we got in touch (Ray Gann was involved as well) for a good and interesting chattering about the '91 Europeant Tour, especially the show in Geneva, Switzerland on 28. February 1991....I will miss his comments.....and his: "God Save Us. BB"

RIP Butch!

I never met him myself (he never came to the UK, at least not with Jerry). Interestingly, he replaced James Burton in 1986... and was replaced by James Burton in 1992!

Any idea what he died of?

He got into intensive care fighting a severe respiratory infection (he got lung-ill since a long time) and heart problems on 06. March.
