At the risk of being insensitive (it's been over 4 months now)... Does anyone know what happened to Gary's vast JLL archives? It was sad enough that they were just rotting in a vault for years, but it would be sadder still if they were just thrown away. They should be given to someone trusted by Jerry, maybe Phoebe (NOT Frankie!) & made available officially through the official website or something.

Does someone know if he did copies of the 50s/60's live recordings that he should have taken from Kay? I know that copies of the Memphis 1961 show (Li'l Abner's Rebel Room) was around the World.

Eh? I believe that Kay has shared things with fans herself, though I know which fan all circulating copies come from... in fact Kay lost her originals, so now has them again thanks to this fan.

She wrote this in the IFC Group about the Rebel room. I was living in Memphis from February through August or September of 1961. Jerry was out of town on tour most of the time, but he did play that one gig in Mfs while I was there. As far as the recording goes, Gary Skala had the actual tape. Copies were made... MANY, I think.... and they wound up all over the world. As far as I can remember, that was the ONLY show, not the "second" show. Jerry did great stuff in those days and the act incorporated most of his "antics." I also remember taping shows in New Jersey, in Wildwood and Keansburg in 1959 and 1960 something.... Skala also had those tapes. I think we taped almost everything in Keansburg. Too bad it wasn't on video. I sure would love to see some of those again! Skala's father got rid of a LOT of JLL stuff. I do not even want to go through the painful process of remembering what's lost.

I wouldn't take too much notice of Kay's "memories". She's a nice person, but she's not so hot at remembering details. I find Paul, Graham and Pierre far more reliable.

I hope that these shows where recorded. And Paul has done a very good job with finding info. I got Pierre's list about Tv-shows, also a very god job. And some of Grahams collection stuff. most pics.
