Totally agree with Peter, great news. Amazing to think he'll be performing on his 81st birthday, and hopefully beyond

I wonder how much the tickets are? I had a look at the website, but you have to phone about tickets, you can't book on-line. Not that I'm thinking of going, as pleased as I am he'll be playing.

I thought going to this for a while. However it comes at too short notice and I am not ordering a 250-$-ticket via phone.

That's nearly £190 at the current exchange rate. Wow! Someone's in it for a big payday. I bet he won't even do a full set.

I don't think they will sell many tickets at such short notice and for a price like that, which means there will be no big payday.

I said years ago that it would be nice for a semi-retired JLL to have a little club in Memphis where he could do the odd gig during his 'rocking chair years', similar to how Chuck used to play Blueberry Hill. It's a shame ticket prices will exclude all but the most fanatical fans. I expect the place will get sold out though. It's a small place, and Memphis is full of tourists spending hundreds of dollars.

I'm I the only one thinking Judith has something to do with it?
It's only a way to cash some money, nothing more, nothing less and a big shame!

I remember paying £140 for a ticket for Rolf's place so £190 is a lot but it is a small venue.I could not afford it for sure. With all that's going on round JLL I don't really want to take a side or comment an opinion but I think that no matter who was 'in charge' of JLL's performing at the Cafe that would be the amount you roughly would pay.

It would be great value if he did one of those 2 & 1/2 hour+ birthday shows, as he did in 2000 / 2001 / 2002. Of course, this won't happen though, and I don't even expect a "full length" 40 minute show.

The show at Rolf's place. The Kinodrome" is a cinema and he had to do a lot to change it into a concertvenue. Besides that he had to book several expensive hotelrooms en dinners for everybody surrounding JLL, not even to mention all the other things what comes with a concert like this. This is not the case for a "Show" in his hometown, maybe he booked the best room at the Peabody but he has only a little drive back home. Even Kenny could drive his car from Nashville :D
So to compare these two things is not quit to do.

I went against my principles when I got a Palladium ticket last year. I don't like these super-high ticket prices and that's why I didn't go to the 100 Club back in 2008. I go to a lot of gigs, and I play a lot of gigs, but I don't pay what I call 'legend tax' on top of a ticket price, just because someone is either super famous or has a finite performing time left (which, let's face it, is why JLL's charging $250).

McCartney, who came from working class roots, charges over £100 a ticket when he plays Liverpool, and he couldn't spend all his money if he tried. I think it's obscene. Obviously it's different with JLL, you've only got to look at the garage sale and the lawsuit. They're looking to get some cash in, and if they sell the place out at $250 a ticket, you can expect a few more of these shows, I'll bet.
