On this youtube channel you'll find a bunch of short clips from Jerry's show at Memphis in may. Most of it sounds pretty good and he seems to have a lot of energy and strong vocals. On the other side, he seems to have problems with staying in the right key at Shakin and during most songs he doesn't play when he's singin and during Sweet Little Sixteen during the piano solo he uses only his right hand. Still impressive for almost 80 years old Jerry lee though somehow I have the idea that he's feeling not as good as during some of the pics and vids we saw the recent months. He looks a bit different in his eyes as well. Might be the make up though...

Have you noticed that his voice seems to stay more in tune when he's not playing piano? Seems like he's struggling to do both at the same time.

Yes noticed that as well. But I also though he looks a bit strange on the pics, not as sharp as on other recent pics and vids we've seen. But like I said, still impressive!

Thanks to Guiliano for sharing this one:

Vocals sound great again! On one side I really like it, he concentrates on the singing and plays the piano only during the solo's. On the other side, it looks a bit weird to see somebody sitting behind a beautifull piano and not touchting it. I can imagine like others said, that at moments it's hard for him to sing and play at the same time, but maybe he can play different things in stead of not playing at all. Bit like a guitar player, when he sings most of them play a simple riff or chord and only during solo they gonna show their tricks.

Love it! I'm perfectly happy with him not playing piano and delivering a great vocal, though perhaps it wouldn't look so odd if he stood up and left the piano to sing sometimes (as he did very often during the 70s and occasionally later).

Multitasking as he grows older and does less performing, with no rehearsals or practice, may well be the problem. I too would have few objections to him concentrating on singing in key and only doing piano solos. If this is the case, that he tends to go off-key when playing the piano and singing at the same time, it would seem to be a lack of concentration trying to do two things simultaneously.

Incidentally I'm hopeless at multitasking. I cannot, for instance, even listen to a CD or record while on the computer. Well of course I can, but a minute after the CD finishes playing I couldn't tell you what I've just listened to. At my last job they put me on Reception and I was hopeless at it, because I also had tasks to do on the PC and if I was doing this I was totally unaware of people coming up to Reception and ignored them. Being a bit deaf didn't help either! :?
Long ago in Ferriday down in Louisiana, They all watched Jerry play and pump that old piana

After Keith Richards had his accident and brain surgery around a decade ago he seemed to really struggle playing and singing at the same time, something he was fine at before. He's improved a little since then, but not much.

Of course some artists have always struggled to do that, with B.B. King being a prime example.
