Paul, your lucky to have been around at the start. Some of us are born too late ...haha. I´m glad i at least had the opportunity to see Jerry in the 80´s, but wish i could have stretched it a bit and seen him in the 70´s too. Back in those days when you could smoke a cigarette in a bar, and didn´t have to be a rocket scientists just to get a job as a floor cleaner. Often i have wished i had been around a lot earlier. So your book and information are very interesting to people like me. I have the first edition, but must get the last one.

ROCK ON!

I haven't seen this show in any list on the net. If not the place is wrong? Wilbur Duke, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Gene Stewart - May 1959

Wilbur Duke in the photo just died at age 80 this year in Monroe, LA. He once tried his hand at the music business but was not too successful. Gene Stewart later got into music business playing shows in the 70s and 80s in Texas and Louisiana. The photo was taken May 30, Memorial Day weekend in West Monroe, LA.

I have checked the gig list on this forum and on Wolfgang's site. But i can't find the Wildwood 59 gig. Only info for Brooklyn, NY - Rip Tide Club (U.S.A, NY, Brooklyn, Coney Island, August, 1959, Rip Tide Club) What is right?

Thanks for the help! It meant a lot. I saved some photos from Rip Tide Club for some years ago and i wanted to be sure that he has played there.

I have photos too from both Wildwood and the Rip Tide Club. The Rip Tide was actually a dump of a club but it was 1959 and Jerry booked where he could. He did three different NYC TV shows while at the Rip Tide. My book on Jerry (if you have it), the Ferriday Fireball, contains all known show dates he ever played, and July/August 1959 is covered in full. Wolfgang got most of Jerry's dates from me, but since he did, thousands of new dates have been added to my Jerry Lee book through the years. Wolfgang's tour date site is much out dated since 2002.

I notice a big collection of Wildwood photos on the Jerryleelewis.org Facebook, with a fantastic color photo! Many thanks Thomas! I wish that these Tv-shows were left in the can for the feature. Unfortunately i don't got The Ferriday Fireball book yet. I looked a lot on Ebay for the book or for different updated versions of the book before but i never find it. I have been very curious of that fabulous book! I don't even got the Killer book with the great Session-Discography from Peter! But i got some other books on Jerry. Thousands of new dates is a very impressive work! A big thanks for that. And of course Wolfgang to. His list has helpt me a lot.

If they went out live then they probably were never taped (or filmed) in the first place. So it's often technically wrong to say that footage was wiped or destroyed.

The 3 TV shows were Aug 4/59 - Richard Hayes Big Beat Show WABC-TV never videotaped-live.
Aug 6/59 - Rate the Record WNTA-TV never videotaped-live.
Aug 8/59 - Alan Freed's Big Beat Party WNEW-TV live (I heard from several people this was videotaped, but never seen it) Doubt it!

I get it now. Never knew that some or maybe all live shows went out untapped. It is such a shame. Because they were really good in preserving material to the feature in other ways.

Piratehook; my book FERRIDAY FIREBALL (fifth and final edition) is still available direct from me. It's huge, very heavy, a long read, thousands and thousands of his tour dates, all TV shows, movies, recording sessions, albums, singles, box-sets, chart positions, cars, homes, personal life, family, world tours, - everything, and all in day-by-day chronological order. Go to opening page of Wolfgang's site and my book covers pop up, with my e-mail address. Click on e-mail and I'll send you the details. I have very few copies left and when they are depleted, that will be the last on this book. Other books will remain in publication for a while.
