Jerry Lee Bootlegs

Postby Roland Boy » Tue Sep 09, 2008 3:59 pm

I now see how they've screwed up the dates and have listed the Old Grey Whistle Test as having being done in Glasgow. They've got their info from 'The Works Of Jerry Lee Lewis' (a day-to-day listing) which is how they have the information listed. The bootleggers have just copied it. Though this still doesn't explain why they list the 'Rock Smuk' interview as having been done in London.

The Old Grey Whistle Test was taped in Glasgow. The same with his 1980 appearance (I can recall 'Lewis Scene' mentioning how he flew up there on one of his "rest" days).

I believe that is a home made CD.
"kaschmittgen's" source is probably "jackieleeripper" from Spain because he sells some of the same stuff.
Just my presumption as result of ebay watching, not more.

The Paris Olympia songs were on fan circulated tapes back in the 80s and they first appeared on cd in the early 90s on a Various artist boot called the Gt Live Show On Earth Live Paris Olympia 58-66 on Europe Records, design based on JLL`s Smash lp
1-10 tracks 58 Bill Haley
11-15 Big O 65
16 Shadows
17-19 also Cliff all 65
20-22 JLL 66

two bonus cuts
Vince taylor 65
Johnny Burnette 62 (Bony Maronie)
I bought the cd for the this

Also, there's a brief interview where Jerry isn't too kind about Sam Phillips. Is this what was on first pressings of the 'Rock Smuk' LP and then withdrawn? The sleeve says it was done in London on April 25th 1972. But that date is also given for the 'Old Grey Whistle Test' show, which it says was done in Glasgow. I'm confused!!!

That early 90s CD featured songs from 1966; Roland Boy is refering to songs from 1963.

The three 1966 songs on that CD were in very impressive quality, far better than on the 80s vinyl bootleg!

Re 63 not 66, I hadn`t seen this new boot, what`s the sound like on the 63 sides? Is it a proper cd or one of those cdr things

yes the sound on most of the tracks on the cd I mentioned is excellent, makes you wonder what else is in the Olympia/Paris radio vaults. I know French label Big Beat put out a cool cd of the Evs live in Paris
