Keep My Motor Runnin´

Keep My Motor Runnin´

Postby Bobby McGee » Thu Nov 13, 2008 9:45 pm

I found these lyrics:

I’ve been loved you since you were sweet sixteen
You’re the best looking woman the Killer has ever seen
Hey Girl you got my heart a-jumpin
Why don’t you keep, keep, keep, keep my motor runnin’
Let’s go, why don't you slam it on the floor
You really got me hummin’,
you drive me and keep my motor runnin’

I got fuel injections and got front wheels
I got completed systems on this time
You’ll really love the feel
Satin sheets crawl up and down my lovely bed
If you lift the pillow you can lay your lovely head
Let’s go, why don’t you put it on the floor
Hey girl you really got me hummin’
Wow keep my motor runnin’

I love to see the moon shining in your face
While I’m racing some wriggle went down in my leg
I love to see the stars shining in your eyes
Give it, give it to me baby keep the Killer satisfied
Let’s go, why don’t you put it on the floor
Hey girl you really got me hummin’
Keep my motor runnin’

Listening to the Rotterdam 81 show or the Paris 81 video we can hear Jerry sing some different lyrics. On the 2nd verse we can hear him sing something of "another gear" (or something like that).

Since I don´t understand exactly what he´s been singing in Paris and Rotterdam 81 about the "other gear" I thought I just ask you here.
So could somebody kindly tell me what he´s singing there exactly?
(I didn´t manage to catch the word he´s singing before "another gear" especially).

Yeah that sounds pretty good!
Thanks!

It seems my english is just too bad to "hear" this when he´s singing.

I searched my dictionary for "strip", "stip", "slip", "snip", "tip" .. I don´t know what else...
But I just didn´t get the right word you know?

So thank God we have it now :)

Yes, thanks!
I have that on DVD.
It´s the same lyrics on the 2nd verse as in Paris and Rotterdam...

I just had problems to hear the word "slip".
It sounds more like "stip" than "slip" to my ears ;-)
I know it makes no sense...

Sorry :D 8)

Let's not forget that Jerry recorded the song (at least) twice, the unreleased 1980 version (the 'Caribou sessions'), & the 1985 'Class of '55' version. I also seem to recall the version on the 'Class of '55' TV documentary being an alternate take.

Alright, Class of 55 is on my "JLL program" for the weekend now!
Thanks for reminding me :)

Now I understand why he was on that picture with Dita von Teese
My life will never be the same.

The Wembley live version got a legal release on Pickwick cd PWK049,Wembley C Music Fest Highlights, which also has HSC and WIS, I played this cd two days back for the first time in years, there was an earlier Silk Cut 2lp set that had some of the Cp/Jll medley on it, but it`s up in the loft

I was talking about studio versions of course. Other 'live' versions that have been released officially include Austin City Limits '83 & Church Street Station '86.
