What do these 10 songs have in common?

Born To Lose
Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee
Sexy Ways
Hound Dog
Your Cheating Heart
Slippin' Around
Johnny B. Goode
Release Me
I Love You Because
Waiting For A Train

The answer is that all of these were first issued as 1963-1969 SMASH recordings! So presumably those fans from the 50s and early 60s who dislike any alternate versions are dismissive of the SUN cuts of these songs.

I''ll guess that he never did record Hound Dog on Smash? For some reason i found it unsuited for him at the time. But you never know what he's recorded! :D

That's right of course and i should be better on expressing myself. I meant if he ever did record it in the studio- But now over to the new boxset. I haven't bought it yet but i will get it soon. I am really really excited about it.

I finally ordered the box here - 299 Euros and shipping for free:

I informed amazon via email about the lower prices at other internet shops - and guess what happened - it became much more expensive at amazon - the price there is now by 384 Euros.

Finally the box arrived today(we had postal strike here for couple of weeks...).Just opened the package and the biggest surprise came there, the size of the box!! Almost 10" size instead of an 12" lp,was Berry box like this too? Nice compact size,I think,I had already imagined what a block of bricks it would be,but no,actually very small.Quick peek through boxes, very nice looking,at least it felt that just familiar photos but the 2nd half of the picture book offered many pics I´d never seen before(at least I can´t remember seeing)
Have to try to listen few cd´s during the weekend.Amazing job! Well worth 290€ that I paid for this one.Only thing I still don´t like are the covers, should have been real photos instead!!!

I might have to wait a couple of years but I'll get the box eventually. I am interested in the revised chronology of some of the sessions and songs but from looking at the track listing I do not believe the well known Sun cut of Drinkin' Wine Spo-dee-o-dee was recorded at a later session which is what the track listing suggests? It certainly sounds like it was recorded around the time of Deep Elem Blues - has that same loud bass sound in the piano.

Although Cold, Cold Heart earlier version does sound to me like it was recorded at the legendary Hound Dog/Pink Pedal Pushers session.

The Berry box had 12 Inch size - like a vinyl box.

No, the Berry set has the same 10" format.

Got mine today, looking forward to listening to a good chunk of it this weekend.

It's exactly the same size as the Chuck Berry box with the same cloth texture. They look great together on the shelf.

OK - I now realise there are two takes of Wine recorded at the later date with the more well known version placed in early '57. I hadn't realised that there were TWO later takes. Looking at the revised 'sessionography' I am thinking that there are some sensible assumptions there including the placing of the solo session(s) after the UK tour.

I agree with the placing of "I Love You So Much It Hurts Me" - quite a bit later than previous but sound-wise it fits.

I found this: $224, $256.39 after clicking wholesale tab.

Called Ernie B's or ebreggae, the link is
http://www.ebreggae.com/

Be certain to click on the WHOLESALE tab on top right before you buy. You do not need to be a business, just a minimum order of (I think) $50. Then your price is a bunch less. Easy process to save money. Save your password!

Once you register, and give ernie's your email, every so often he will send you a coupon worth anywhere from 10-20% off of even the wholesale price.

If Ernie does not list an item, it only means he is out of stock, and it will probably be back soon. He only lists items that are ready to ship.

Rock solide reliable and superb packaging. Best source all around the world for Bear Family
