Uniting The Spirit - A Collection Of Christmas Music To Benefit Special Olympics In Canada

includes an unissued Jerry Lee Christmas medley HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS/WHITE CHRISTMAS from the Hank Cochran sessions

produced by Gilles Godard in 1996 (!) for the Special Olympics

It´s very hard to understand, that all of us have overlooked an unissued Jerry Lee recording for 16 years.

Of course The Hank Cochran session was 9 years earlier (unless there was more than one session?). Will be interesting to hear this!

I´m not sure, that recording date (1996) must be right. As there was no permission by Kerrie to release a second volume
of the Hank Cochran sessions of 1987, maybe the right date of recording is kept secret on this CD and they wrote the same year as the production on the back cover. (???)

Interesting news! They probably have lots of tracks to lift from the Hank Cochran sessions. According to Hank Cochran himself they made around 105 sides during those sessions.

105 sides of those crappy sessions? I am not surprised that Kerrie did not give permission for them to be released. The worst JLL sessions ever.

I'm mostly inclined to agree. He's playing the crappiest sounding keyboard I've ever heard on many of them, and the band overdubs are an embarassment.

It sounds strong like a '87 recording to me...do listen to it and it's up to you:

I couldn't even listen to it all the way through as it's so dreadful, but I agree it sounds like the same 1987 session(s).

I managed to get through it on the first listen : ) Not too good, but at least it´s nice to hear a new track. Thanks Thomas for sharing.

Got my CD today - I´m sure the song(medley) is from the same 1987 sessions.

The chronology of production is more interesting than the song :

1987 Hank Cochran sessions
1995 release of the first volume on CD
1996 production of the United The Spirit CD
1997 Special Winter Olympics in Canada

When did Kerrie refuse a second volume of the sessions on CD ? (already 1995 ??)

1996/97 - 2012 United The Spirit CD unknown for Jerry Lee Lewis fans and collectors (?)

I wonder when all the band overdubs were made too, 1987 or several years later?
