Hi,
Read in the FBM no.2/Vol.48 about a new 4 CD set that is in the pipe-line. According to Barrie GAmblin we get 4 MCA tracks without the overdubbed guitar by Dave Travis. First time on CD I belive. Am I right to belive that we also for the firsts time get I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry with strings for the first time on CD?

Personally I find it far less essential than (say) the overdubbed versions of 'Swinging Doors' & 'If I Had It All To Do Over' simply because it was both (a) overdubbed & (b) released many years after the undubbed version. Pleasant though it is, including this on the Bear Family box set would be a bit like including those awful "Allegro" overdubbed versions ('Bonnie B.' & 'Lewis Boogie') on a Sun Years box.

As for this box set, I'd much rather see them re-release the original MCA albums in full, perhaps with bonus tracks that were released later ('Rock & Roll Money', 'Daughters Of Dixie', etc).

I now see that this 4CD is listed for sale on Amazon UK for release on 10th April .... bearing a tag of...wait for it...£32.99! I suspect that there won't be many takers at that price!

I was expecting a budget release similar to the "100 Hits" series!

While I am not 100% sure as the title is slightly different but I guess it would be better to order it from Amazon.de as it is cheaper (Euro 30.99) and it will be released earlier (23. March 2012).

Down The Line & Mean Woman Blues are two obvious ones at first glance.

I like the song selection though. Has "When Two Worlds Collide" ever been relased on CD before? I cannot remember.

Me too. Great to see 'It's A Hang Up Baby' & 'No Traffic Out Of Abilene' included, two songs that I often cite as amongst his greatest recordings.

Yes. It's been on two widely available compilations; "Rockin' My LIfe Away; The Jerry Lee Lewis Collection" (Warners 26689) and "The Platinum Collection" (Warner Platinum / Rhino 74052)

Indeed, Andrew. I have both compilations somewhere, just don't know where and now that I am getting older my memory is not what it used to be and I just could not remember whether "When Two Worlds Collide" was included or not.
