I guess even if the producers would select songs that would suit Jerry's ability he wouldn't record them...

I consider him a Rock & Roll artist, because that's what he's known for. Despite his comeback as a country artist in the 60s when people think of him they think of him pounding out WLS, & especially GBOF. In my opinion the reason people keep going to see him today is to see the Rock & roller, But he is very underrated as a country artist.

Definitely, though I'd also say that some of his rock & roll is a little overrated.

Great Balls Of Fire? Probably one of the worse songs of the 50s, certainly shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Johnny B. Goode or Ain't That A Shame or Jailhouse Rock or Summertime Blues (or even Breathless and High School Confidential). Horrible, horrible song (I'd want to take lots of drugs too if I had to sing it every night!).

Why should I? He's recorded 100's of other songs, many of which I love.

Perhaps more shocking is Jerry Lee Lewis hating his 3rd biggest hit, and even 50 years ago he avoided playing it more often than not.
