Chas Hodges was, in my judgement, an exceptional talent. To invent a musical genre; a genre that mixed the very best US R&R, pre R&R sing along with (UK) music hall while enthusing his cockney (working class) musical background is truly remarkable. If that was not enough, he was a great musician and brilliant live artist and not least a nice man.

I met him three times (2 of those at JLL concerts), and he was a lovely, lovely man! R.I.P. Chas Hodges.

Chas' death actually coincided with unexpected health issues of my own (which I've thankfully recovered from), so I didn't have the energy to comment much at the time. Anyway, the entire professionally filmed memorial concert has been posted on youtube, check it out:
