This interesting clip was also on the Yahoo forum , courtesy of Tex the Travelin Man .....

Chris' wife wrote on YouTube: "We went this weekend to a Jerry Lee Lewis "Great Balls of Fire" concert in Tennessee. My husband's dad Kenneth Lovelace has been playing with Jerry Lee for 40 plus years and I finally got the chance to see him them in Concert at Sam's Town Casino this weekend."

I wonder if Kenny ever recorded as a member of the Snearly Ranch Boys, a fairly fluid bunch of musicians that Sam Phillips used as an unofficial house band in the early days of Sun. Stan Kesler who is on the photo that features on the link Peter posted was a leading member of the band and one or two of the others certainly played in it. They backed Smokey Joe Baugh on "The Signifying Monkey" in the year the photo was taken(1955). Perhaps Kenny's discography is longer than we realised! The trouble is Sam never kept proper session notes so for many of the 50s recording sessions we have no chance of knowing who was involved.

Another intriguing thought: as Jerry played with the Snearly Ranch Boys in 1956 at the Cotton Club in Memphis, could he have played with Kenny then? Peter Guralnick doesn't mention Kenny in his biog of Sam Phillips apart from publishing the photo of him with some of Sam's house band musicians. Still, until that photo appeared I'd no idea that Kenny was recording at the Sun studios in 1955 so who knows what information may yet surface.
