Great!

This seems to be the same band that Jerry had in late 1969 (Toronto Peace Festival, Ed Sullivan Show) featuring Kenny Lovelace, Eddie DeBruhl, Ned Davis and Russell Smith, so presumably it was around this time. I wonder what he sang though?

That photo is NOT from August 1971. For the February 1970 'The Johnny Cash Show' Buck Hutcheson was back in the band, and Morris 'Tarp' Tarrant had returned by the time of the May 1970 Las Vegas shows... of course, there were further band changes later, but the line-up in the pic was never together again. Also, Jerry tended to no longer wear plain suits and ties in 1971, preferring a more casual look.

Good point Peter.. That s why I'm. Not sure about people telling 1971. Besides, maybe it has nonsense but.. That hair and face. Is. More like 1967-1969 years.. Who known
Update :Paul McPhail says its from Feb. 1971

Paul MacPhail is wrong unless he means broadcast date (still extremely unlikely to have been taped more than a year earlier).

I can't remember details, but certainly throughout 1968 (and possibly early 1969) J.W.Brown was back on bass, and Jerry never had a steel guitar player in 1967. So in my opinion this is almost certainly mid to late 1969.

There is a tv-show list made by Pierre Pennone I beleive that list the Mike Neun Show with the broadcasting date 71.02.08 (8.February 1971. But it does not list recording date. Whether Pierre got the date from Paul, or the other way around, I have no idea. Butlooking at the band, I like the way you are thinking Peter.

"Let's Go"/Where It's At" was a CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) tv show produced in Vancouver by Ken Gibson who at one point looked like this:

To me, he resembles the mystery person in this picture:

Buddy Knox moved to Manitoba in 1970 and Vancouver in 1992. Am thinking perhaps the second picture was taken when the "Let's Go" performance was taped. My rule of thumb: if Jerry is wearing a tab collared shirt, it's 1969.

Great research! I've wondered for a long time where that Buddy Knox pic is from.

It's almost certainly from 1969.

EDIT: Apparently 'Let's Go' ended in June 1968, but a spin-off show entitled 'Where It's At' lasted until June 1969. So perhaps it's from the latter?

I've been sampling these tv shows on youtube and they're not at all as I imagined. Nothing like Shindig or Hullabaloo. More like poor man's "Your Hit Parade" where the house band performs cover versions of current hits. I can't see this bunch producing the Green Green Grass video. I've researched myself into a mistaken conclusion.

I'm not sure I agree... some clips, such as this live Lulu performance could plausibly be the same show as the JLL photo:

On the other hand I just noticed that Ken Gibson was the producer of the Mike Neun Show!

So am I back to 1971?

(I see your point about the Lulu set.)

Problem is, that is definitely Jerry's mid-to-late 1969 band. According to that link, 'The Mike Neun Show' didn't start until September 1970, by which time the band had both changed members and expanded in size.
