Do you think there's any chance that some of the missing American Bandstand apperances is still around?

I'm not so sure. As that link above (TV.com) points out, the old "Best of American Bandstand" VHS tape of 50s & early 60s footage didn't actually include anything from American Bandstand.

One TV show that does still survive in it's entirety is 'Shindig!' - all 86 episodes! I now have these myself, full details on my blog: http://musicdvdslist.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/shindig-on-dvd_10.html

Jerry Lee Lewis appeared in five episodes of this show, and Linda Gail Lewis appeared in two.

It's a shame that Jerry never appeared on the 1965-1966 "Shivaree" TV show, as I've found a U.S. collector who claims he has every episode...

We might've missed the occasional regional U.S.or European TV show, but I think (thanks to fans such as Gary Skala and Paul MacPhail) we know about all the major ones. I've seen full episode details of 'Shivaree' and there's no mention of JLL.

Pierre Pennone uploaded a lengthy "word" file to the Yahoo forum a few years ago with full details, so maybe it's still there (I'm no longer a member). If not, Paul's book lists most of them.

Charlie Rich was on "Shivaree". There are NO episodes of "American Bandstand"... but all Dick Clark Beechnut Shows are available. I was able to obtain the two with Carl Mann on them...July 25 and October 31, 1959.

I guess you mean from the 50s. There's plenty of surviving "American Bandstand" episodes from the 60s, 70s & 80s of course, including a 1964 appearance by JLL.

Sorry, right Peter, from the 50s...plus that 1962 appearance doesn't exist either.

That's a shame, this is something that would be particularly good to see (he used two drummers on the show!).

One thing I've never seen is an interview that Jerry did on returning to the USA from living in Ireland, in 1994. I think it was for CNN (though I'm not certain), and apparently he was quite rude about the Irish people, much to the annoyance of those that befriended him while he lived there...

Another "recent" broadcast that I've never seen is a TV news report of one of the 1990 Yugoslavian shows which included all or part of GBOF (I believe that "Tex", "Paper Boy" and "Albert" all saw this telecast!).

While he was rather harsh on the US-Americans as he lived in Ireland...

One "lost" item I'd love to see is Jerry performing 'I Can't Have A Merry Christmas, Mary (Without You)' on 'The Johnny Cash Christmas Show' in 1985. This was taped, but never broadcast, so I guess it's possible that it still exists somewhere in the vaults. The broadcast songs of course were 'I Am What I Am' and a ropey version of 'Big Train (From Memphis)' with Johnny Cash and his son.

Most fans think of Jerry on TV because of his National Television shows but he was also on many local TV shows through the years that most fans don't know about. The famous teen dance party show very similar to Dick Clark's American Bandstand - "MILT GRANT SHOW" on local WGGT-TV six days a week from the Raleigh Hotel in Washington DC from early 1957 to April 1961...Jerry would guest on it nearly every time he was in the Washington/Maryland area and lyp-synched two songs. He also made an appearance on "TOWN HALL PARTY" in California in 1958 and sang three of his biggest hits. Other local Los Angeles TV shows he guest on were "STRICTLY INFORMAL" in 1958 with host Larry Finley and "COUNTRY AMERICA SHOW" (twice in 1958) on KABC-TV with host Joe Allison. There was the "CHUCK THOMPSON SHOW" on WALA-TV in Mobile, Alabama in 1958 where he lyp-synched three songs. He was guest on the "JERRY LESTER SHOW" on KTTV in California in 1959 and "CAL'S CORRAL" on KTLA-TV in Los Angeles in 1959, and there was "COWTOWN JAMBOREE" in Fort Worth, Texas hosted by DJ Bill Mack which he would appear on live in the late 60s and sing 5 songs each show. In 1967 there was "ELWOOD GLOVER'S LUNCHEON DATE" on CBC-TV in Canada. There were others and most of these shows were done live so no tape exists, but details are all in my latest copies of THE FERRIDAY FIREBALL book on Jerry, day-by-day.
