Jerry Lee concert photos for sale

While on holiday at Pontins, Pakefield a guy came up to me and introduced himself as Adrian Watson, son of the late Brian Watson who was a great Jerry Lee fan.

Adrian has loads of photos taken by his dad of Jerry Lee concerts in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. I remember at one of the shows I calculated Brian had taken 3 photos a minute, so about 180 photos for a one hour show.

If anyone is interested in buying any of these photos you can contact Adrian on 0753 562 1114.

Brian and his wife Carol stayed at our flat when they came to London for the Wembley Country Music Festivals. Carol commiserated with my partner about living with a Jerry Lee fan, but claimed she had it worse as Brian was playing Jerry Lee at full volume in one room while Adrian was playing Heavy Metal in another room. Adrian showed me his AC/DC tattoo, so is still into Heavy Metal. He remembers seeing me at a Jerry Lee show, and also at the 'Great Balls of Fire' musical at the Cambridge Theater where he also went with Brian.

I had no idea Brian died. I used to trade with him years ago (it's thanks to Brian's efforts that most circulating tapes of UK concerts from 1972 exist as it was him who taped them), and coincidentally I was talking about him to my better half when we passed through Cambridge last week.

Probably Brian's most famous photo is the one of Jerry and Linda in Northampton '87, as used for the cover of Linda Gail's book.

Brian died about 8 years ago in February. Adrian said it was quite quick, lung cancer I believe. It was his partner after Carol, Rossy, who told me as I got Christmas cards from them every year. Carol is still alive and well.

I'm so far behind that I didn't even realise he split up from Rossy! Glad things were hopefully quick.

Brian isn't someone I knew well, but he was one of the first other JLL fans I met - sort of! When I went to my very first JLL concert (London's Rainbow Theatre, 17th February 1980) I recall Brian sitting next to me. I didn't have a clue who he was and we didn't even really talk (apart from occasional comments about how great the show was), but when I met him properly some years later (1983 I think) I straight away remembered him.

Belated R.I.P. Brian!

Back on topic... Brian was without doubt one of THE greatest photographers of JLL during his 70s & 80s (& beyond?) tours. Here's another great one which I know he was particularly proud of:

It was Carol and Brian who split up. Rossy was his partner after Carol. Brian was a great Jerry Lee fan.
